I’m excited (and yeah, a little nervous) to let you know my next single, When the Sun Began to Fade, is coming out June 11.

This one’s different. It’s personal. It’s raw. It means a lot to me.

I wrote it about my grandfather, who passed away in 2013 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was one of the most important people in my life growing up. So many of my early memories — the ones that really shaped me — are tied to him. He was steady, kind, full of wit, and always made me feel loved.

As time went on and his health faded, I wasn’t around as much as I should’ve been. That’s something I’ll always carry. This song is a way of holding onto the good, while also being honest about the parts that still hurt. It’s a tribute — but also a reminder.

It might surprise you, but the song’s actually got an upbeat feel. That was on purpose. My grandpa had this warmth and light about him that I didn’t want to lose in the sound. I wanted it to feel like him — steady, hopeful, real.

The chorus came first, and once I had that, the rest just kind of followed. I put a lot of time into this one. It mattered that much.

I hope When the Sun Began to Fade finds a place in your story. I hope it nudges you to call someone you love. Don’t wait. Life moves fast. And sometimes, we only realize how much someone meant when the sun begins to fade.

Thanks for listening — and for caring.
